House system

The school operates on a four-house system, with students from Grade I onwards assigned to houses named Agni, Akash, Prithvi, and Sagar, representing the forces of nature. Through this system, students engage in sports and cultural activities competitively, with year-long inter-house competitions. Each house has elected student captains and vice-captains, as well as teachers serving as mentors. A teacher-in-charge oversees each house, fostering a healthy competitive spirit across the school.

Admissions for the 2025-26 academic year are open for Pre-KG to IX and XI.

Competitions

At Subbiah Central School, we embrace Albert Einstein’s belief that “Education is training the mind to think,” utilizing internal competitions to foster critical thinking skills.

Objectives

At Subbiah Central School, we embrace Albert Einstein’s belief that “Education is training the mind to think,” utilizing internal competitions to foster critical thinking skills.

We ensure ample opportunities for participation across a wide range of activities, encouraging students to explore and develop focused hobbies. Our structured competition system, comprising Prelims and Finals, guarantees participation for all interested students while maintaining high standards. This prepares students to thrive in a competitive world.

Competitions are organized on a two-tier basis: Prelims allow all interested students to participate, and top performers advance to Finals. Grades I-X compete within the inter-house system, while Kindergarten students compete at the grade level.

Annually, approximately 15-20 competitions per category are held, with around 700 prizes awarded during the Awards Day ceremony, in addition to prizes for Academic Proficiency and 100% Attendance.

Club activities

At Subbiah Central School, we believe in providing children with the right activities at the right age in a structured format. That’s why we offer club activities for students in Grades IV-X during their regular class hours. Each week, students spend a few periods participating in club activities, alternating between two groups.

Our clubs cover a wide range of interests:

1. Drama Club, 2. Literature Club,
3. Math Club, 4. Science Club,
5. Eco Yuva Club, 6. Health and Hygene Club,
7. Techie Club.

These clubs, led by elected secretaries and supervised by teachers, operate throughout the year, contributing actively to school events. Additionally, we have an Interact Club aligned with Rotary International, fostering a spirit of public service among our students.

Extra curricular activities

At Subbiah Central School, we value the development of students’ individual interests and talents through regular Extra Curricular Activities (ECA).

During the 9th hour, from 3:10pm to 4:00pm, students have the opportunity to participate in ECA. They can choose from a variety of activities provided by external coaches at a nominal fee, including Classical Dance, Western Dance, Keyboard, Yoga, Tennis, Karate, Skating, Football, Cricket, Throwball, Table Tennis, Chess, Abacus, and Aeromodelling.

For students who prefer not to participate in paid activities, internal activities are available during the ECA hour, ensuring that ECA remains an integral part of schooling for all students.

Other activities

At Subbiah Central School, art is seamlessly integrated into our curriculum, beginning from kindergarten. Our students receive specialized training in art, leading them to organize an annual art exhibition showcasing their own paintings.

Music education is also prioritized, with vocal training provided during regular periods. Handwriting support is offered by experts, ensuring students develop clear and legible handwriting skills.

To address students’ psychological needs, we have dedicated student counsellors who offer support, guidance, and academic assistance as required.
Additionally, work experience activities are incorporated into the curriculum for Grade IX and X students, providing practical learning opportunities.

Sport and games

Sports are integral to Subbiah Central School’s ethos, with continuous activities alongside regular Physical Education periods. Evening sports camps are a staple, featuring football, throwball, kabaddi, cricket, skating, yoga, and more. Our top-notch sports infrastructure includes football, tennis, throwball, cricket facilities, and upgraded equipment.
